video cd?

    is a video cd the same as an MPEG2

    yep i thought it was. The video on a video-cd is in the mpg2 format, but im not sure, never burnt a video-cd

    VCD is I think but SVCD u have to play in a dvd program or on a player, wmp can't open them for some reason.

    NO u got it mixed up

    mpeg1 is vcd
    svcd is mpeg2 which can be played with powerdvd.
    windows media player will not play svcd's
    mpeg2 is dvd quality if encoded correctly and recoreded from a good source.

    svcd stands for super video cd. its just better quality than vcd,

    well atleast it can have better quality depends what u encode to svcd could be a little crappy avi.:happy:
