phew... i just installed sp1 on this computer and it rebooted in classic style but still coloured green like the original. thanks for the latest uxtheme.dll link

plus my edited text on the start button has changed back to normal. do i just hack that the same as i did previously (with resource hacker)??

can someone plaes give step by step insturtions on what to do with the hacked uxtheme so I can get rid of this boring theme it's driving me nuts. I downloaded it and don't know what to do with the file. And do you need the uxtheme.pat file at all? Please help.

ok I got it not sure what I did but it worked out. I downloaded from Sammy20 didn't think anything happened and restarted and my themes are back!!!!!
Thanks anyways. I will send more people that are having trouble if that's ok.

do u really need to boot in safe mode to hack uxtheme.dll?? cause before sp1 i have the uxtheme.dll hack but i change it w/out booting in safe mode. here is how i didi it:

go to c-windows-system32-dll cache: in here delete uxtheme.dll

now go back to system32 folder rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.bak or whaever name u want then put the uxtheme.dll hack answer yes to keep unrecognize version adn then reboot youre done!!! if this dont work please post so i can new if this works or not with the sp1

The patch program from andyp here has an unpatcher in the program. But yes to be on the safe side I also copied the original to a safe place. Good point NotBold_Fortune.

Just thought I'd draw some attention to the file Sammy20 posted, it is the only one that has worked for me so far running XP Pro (AndyP's did not). I finally have my styles usable again with no StyleXP thanks to that file so I do recommend trying it if you cannot get the AndyP one working.
