i have xp home can i create a user group that can not affect windows files. cause i thinks its one of those things that are different between home and pro. thanks in advance.
As far as i know user groups have the same functionality under home as they do for pro.
The groups themselves dont affect files, but i presume you were talking about file permissions. If you make a new group it wont start appearing in Access Control Lists until you add it.
Whats your goal anyway? Tell me that and ill give some direction on how to accomplish it.
What do you want the group for if not to assign permissions / rights to it?
i want a group that can install stuff but cant effect windows files. cause in case i get a trojen or something it wont be able to get to windows it will only effect the user.

Then you want to use the "power users" group or an ordinary user account and use "run as" administrator when you want to install something from that account.
Microsoft recommend doing it that last way.
Right click theapplication you want to run and select "run as" then type the credientials for the administator account.
If you were to make a new group to do this you would have to do all the system rights settings aswell as the file permissions.
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
