I am lookin to get a TFT Monitor, but I current normal screen resolution with my CRT is 1280x1024.

I am tryin to save as much money as I can, but I need a TFT for transport reasons. Most of the 15" ones I have seen are quoted as max resolution 1024x768. I have also seen some that are said normal is 1024x768 and max is 1280x1024. I also know that the 17" normal resolution is 1280x1024.

So I am wondering can all 15" TFT/LCD Monitors which are normally quoted as 1024x768 also do the 1280x1024 resolution which I prefer? Or should I really be lookin at a 17" TFT?

Nope, if they say 1024, it's 1024. You should get a 17" for 1280. Also a TFT screen should allways be run at maximum resolutions. If you lower the resolution the screen will become "blurry" everything will look all wrong. This is the case with all the screens I've seen anyway.

Think if you wanted that then you would need to do something like 18" or higher screen size for a TFT screen

haha my friend has the same exact monitor! but it says that the max resolution is 1024 X 768 but it also says Factory Presets Maximum Resolution Hz 1600 x 1200 but i think the max it will go is 1024 X 768

Yeah I just checked the LG site, 1024 max, damn.

I think I am going to have to fork out something like £323 for a 17" so I can have a decent resolution. Some friends of mine have the LG, I might see how the screen looks at 1024, but I still think I am going to end up with a 17" now.

I think "Factory Presets Maximum Resolution Hz 1600 x 1200" is just a typo. They probably "borrowed" a spec sheet from a CRT monitor and changed it to fit this one.
