The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

as it says, its disabled in BIOS, as a gaming tweak. now can i stop the driver trying to load ?

or is this going to be 1 of the issues that my next format will take care of ? :)

not sure. if it's disabled in the bios, the OS shouldn't even think you have one. i'm positive your next format will fix that one. while you're at it, disable those ancient com ports, too. :)

    Try this
Open device manager > view > show hidden devices
You might see it in there, try disabling or even uninstall it.

I disabled my parallel port in the bios since everything I have, printer included, is USB. I was able to save some system resources and Windows doesn't see the port in Device Manager.
