Anyone know a way to get XP to always display the Status Bar?
I tried locking the bars but I still have to click View to display it.
    thanks,

    Tools\Folder Options\View\Apply to all Folders

    that should do the trick...

I have had this problem as well as some others around here from what I recall. If you do apply that setting to all folders, and some folders still refuse to display the status bar consistently, then I don't know that there's much you can do about it. Windows seems to have a problem with keeping some folder settings, especially across mutiple partitions. I don't know why this is exactly, but it is an annoying issue. Unfortunately, I don't think it's on top of the priority list over at M$ right now.

    close all windows

bring up windows explorer, not internet explorer

go to view, check status bar, then save to all folders

close window e, open internet e

    that's it

hmm... it bugged me too.... the way i solved it:

    Step 1: open My Computer
Step 2: click view -> status bar
Step 3: immediately close My Computer

when you open My Computer next time the status bar will stick....

repeat for My Documents or any folder you have shortcutted
