I have an issue regarding Standby.
I am using Windows XP Professional, and I can get in and out of standby like once or twice and then after that when I try to go into standby again, it just freezes at the "Preparing to Standby" screen and therefore forced to reboot. Anyone know a fix for this?

I don't know about your machine but Dell recommends NOT to use standby.

If you saw the daily post at DellTalk.. Dell's forum you would see that plenty people has problems when using standby...

THAT is the reason Dell says NOT to use it. They say it is to be used only with laptops to conserve battery life.

I tried it once, it worked ok for a couple times then just stopped working.

Yes i have this standby problem too...when i first installed xp it was fine for quite a while but then ...........flashbacks of win 95, 98 etc etc...

Having done just about everything possible to fix the problem in 95 and 98, my efforts so far have been in vain in win xp....mind you I havent done a full wipe out and clean install ...yet!!

No i think ill give that a miss.

I've never had standby work flawlessly for me, under any version of windows. I would suggest you use hibernate, or just leave it on/shut it off.
