some processes

  1. i was wondering if i need this stuff running in my xp. cuz about 2 days ago my dl sleep droped from about 80 to like 20. so i disables some stuff which i didnt think i'd need, and as it appears everything works fine and dl speed is up. but i'm not sure about this

    ctfmon.exe
    smss.exe
    csrss.exe
    winlogon.exe
    lsass.exe
    crypserv.exe

    do i need them or not?

    CTFmon is the speech recognition component of office, you need to uninstall it from office to completely get rid of it.

    smss.exe
    csrss.exe
    winlogon.exe
    lsass.exe

    are all needed windows components and are basically part of svchost.

    As for crypserv, it is made bya company called crypkey.com. it is some sort of licensing and protection app I searched my HD and didn't find it there so it's possible some program you used installed it as part of it's copy protection.

    what is "wanmpsvc.exe" for?
    it says it's WAN Miniport (ATW) Service but what does it do?
