I noticed that my computer's login/logout/overall window start up has taken a huge blow. while i dont mind much of my window start up. logging in and out takes forever! also switching screen names also lags a lot. does anyone know what may be causing this or tips on things that can reduce the time. i remember my computer use to do it instantly. also i noticed one of my start up thingies does not have an icon, as if like it's missing. could that be an issue?

Maybe your user folders are too big.

Your "startup thingie" that has lost its icon may very well be the problem. Is there no icon at all or a basic one? I would disable this item in msconfig, reboot and see if the slow login problem persists.
