should i upgrade my geforce2 mx200

By the way, cs-cky, this statement is unreasonable and lacks any substance whatsoever. I've had an ATI 7500 and a 9700 that worked just fine, and had zero performance and compatibility issues. I would never say NVidia is crap because they make great products as well, and ATIs are just as good. I'm getting a 9800 this summer ;)

MMMM I would say get a Ti4200 instead of the FX5200 my Ti4200 128mb 8Xagp slaps the FX5200 all over the place and holds its own very well against the FX5600 and even if the FX5200 is directx 9 it is not fast enough to make it count not by a long shot :)

True!! Even a 64MB GF4 Ti4200 will outperform a 5200 any day(the 128MB version costs about 25% more than the 64MB according to Pricewatch.com )

ya it does but the utral version dont. they card i recommended kicks all yr cards asses hard. it is a geforce fx 5600 utral 256 ddr ram

He just said he didn't have the money for a 9500, and a 5600 costs the same. Probably the Radeon 9000 or the FX 5200 would be fine.

(By the way--

HTML sigs don't work.)

ive had nothing but problems from ati

True, the older ATI cards may have had problems (the Rage 128 wasn't that great) but I've installed five ati 9x00 series cards, two of which have been on my system, and not a problem from any of them.

Same here. It'll be a long time before I ever get another ATI card.

I fried my GF4 TI4200 so i replaced it with a FX5200:mad: The FX5200 is way slow in comparison I'd go with a TI4200:D

Agreed!

ok so i'll get the ti4200. can someone help me find a good deal and package with all those wires and shiit.

Yay! Good choice.

Try here. It's a mere seventy-eight dollars! Wires? Well, it comes with a DVI-to-VGA dongle, which you can hook a second monitor up to (very cool and very useful, trust me--you'll never go back.)

By the way, the people poo-pooing on ATI haven't tried the 9x00 series...all their cards are pre-9000.

I don't slam NVidia or ATI. Both companies make excellent products these days, so basing your opinion on their past products is like saying "I don't like Windows XP because Windows Me crashed all the time."

Yeah just dont be like HandyBuddy and try to remove stuff from your cards.....cough cough... :)

Heres a graph from that link you just posted, notice how the gf4 ti4200 is kicking the crap out of the fx5200 ultra.

the 5200 series is designed to replace the gf4 MX series.. NOT the Ti series...

therefore it is an under performing card..

also... you are unlikely to see any benefits of 256mb memory until you get to a high end card like the 5900ultra which can actually utilise the memory... and net more fps due to added texture swap size @high res and with AA and AF turned on...

the 5200/5600 series can't perform @ high res like the 5900ultra can and therefore you are unlikely to see any difference :)

of course if you want to show off to your friends... go ahead and waste the money on the 256mb card :)

for price and performance.. look for products from eVGA/asus/msi/gainward or albatron... these manufacturers all have decent cards out on the market...

a 128mb gf4 ti 4200 should be around 120 dollars with a decent package... just over actually :)

gainward

albatron

asus

you may be able to get cheaper sites online... but I trust newegg and am providing links for reference :)

happy shopping..

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
