This is my first post. Hope I'm doing this correctly.
I've been trying to use HP Application Recovery Program to reinstall HP RecordNow. Everytime the installation begins an error comes up with:

    WINDOWS SCRIPT HOST
    Script: c\hp\tmp\install.js
    Line: 41
    Char: 1
Error: Could not create object named "Wcript.Shell".
    Code: 80004005
    Source: WScript.CreateObject

    OK

I know nothing about any of it, but I come here to learn. Can someone point me in the right direction in resolving this problem? I appreciate any help!! Thanks!!

The object should be "WScript.Shell" not "Wcript.Shell".
Open install.js in Notepad, do a search for "Wcript" and replace it with "WScript"

    Should fix your problem.

I'm sorry...the "WcriptShell" was a typo on my part. The error did display:
Could not create object named "Wscript.Shell".
    Sorry about that.

Open install.js and count down 41 lines, paste the code as shown in the file. Paste lines 40 and 42 also.

Matt, how do I go about opening install.js ? If it is through RUN, XP is telling me that it can't find it. Call me stupid, but I'm lost.

Just rightclick, open with, Editor or drag the file in an Editor window. And remember to take away the checkmark at Format - Word Wrap before counting the lines.
