Restart/shutdown problem

OK here are the tweaks, if you want them...

First of all, per usual I would suggest you make a backup of your registry - 'k?

Now go to regedit and open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ and make sure value for HungAppTimeout is set to 5,000 (this is the default). After that look for WaitToKillAppTimeout and reduce this to 4,000 (default is 20,000).

Next go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ and you can change the value WaitToKillServiceTimeout to 4,000 as well.

Dunno if you have an Nvidia card, but if you do go into the control panel -> admin tools -> Services and set Nvidia Driver Help service to manual.

If you want to disable the Windows built in zip fetaure which uses resources (EG if you use WINRAR) then go to Start -> Run -> regsrvr /u zipfldr.dll.

Now remember like I said before the App kill timeout needs a little care if you run enormous apps that are going to take a lot of time closing themselves down in an orderly fashion - so you may want to start with a more conservative value there - it is up to you.

But if a faster shutdown is what you desire - this is a tweaking recipe for it...

I am not certain if this is in the tweaks thread- but did not want to put it right there since there are some risks to these . If a mod decides it deserves to go there I am sure they will notice.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
