Does anyone have a solution for the error message:

Windows cannot load the registry hive
    systemroot\windows\system32\system or software
    either is corrupt or missing

I have had these messages many times and I cannot start windows after that.I found a solution that I do

f.e ren software software.bak and then
    copy c:\windows\repair\software
all this in the recovery console

but when I do that windows start bu all my settings and installations are missing.

    Any ideas?except format

since you say it's a re-occuring problem it would probably be best for you to do a clean install either way. Also make sure you do a complete chkdsk and make sure there are no errors with your drive causing the corrupt hive.
