I have two PC's that no matter what user is logged in either on the domain or local, even with new profiles, can't shutdown/reboot/logoff from the PC using the standard start menu functions.
I went and disabled everything such as services, startup apps, all processes, etc. This still occurs in barebones Safe Mode. There is nothing in the event viewer for hangs or anything like that relevant to when the attempts were made. You can click on the items until you are blue in the face, give it overnight to process and nothing happens. I have also tried a repair on Windows, as well as a sfc /scannnow. I have done a scandisk, checkdisk, defrag and disk cleanup (just pulling at straws really )
HOWEVER, making shortcuts on the desktops to shutdown.exe and the appropriate switches for each action works. Any suggestions on what may be going on here, and how I can restore functionality to the start menu?
