I have an HP cd-rw and I've never had problems with it before. Just lately when I've been running applications and copying something from the cd, the applications slow down greatly and my cpu usage goes up to 100% I've never had this problem before, but its getting really annoying. When I play games with CD music, the game slows down a lot. =(

    Comp specs:
    1ghz PIII
    HP CD-RW 9100 series
    NVidia GeForce2 Mx Deluxe
    384MB of PC-2100 DDR ram
    CUV266 Asus mobo
    Windows XP

Is the CD-rom set to DMA?, check under your IDE controllers in device manager and see what the mode says, and make sure the use dma if availible option is selected.
