quick question, do i use the PARTITION WIZARD to format the second drive?? and where it says to select partition drive size do i select all available space for 1 partition.?

format the second drive from within XP - diskmgmt.msc

yes select all available space
do a full format (not quick)

OK, i have now used my new hd, however there is a problem,, i formatted it before i used my recovery disk, meaning the RECOVERY DISK WILL NOT install on it because it has windows ME..

****.

anyway, ill have to leave it like this because i cannot convert back to FAT32,, now i have a 40gig slave drive which i will fill with games and other stuff, infact UT2003 runs SMOOTHER when installed on my faster drive!!!
