New HDD: WinXP reinstall?

i was wondering would i get a performance boost if i just leave my os on a hard drive that have 2mb and all my other programs on a 8mb hard drive.
 
I think the boost will be more due to the fact that you're using two different drives rather than the second drive having 8MB cache.
