Network Alert pop up question

I have a few computers on my personal home network, they are all running on windows xp pro. There are times when I will need the user at a specific computer to contact me, and I would like to be able to send a pop up alert to the user on that computer. Assuming that they are NOT running any kind of program such as AIM or MSN messanger, I have two questions,

1. How can I make an alert popup on a specific computer, so that the alert says what i need it too.?

2. How can I send a general alert to all three computers if I need to saying the same message but only to computers within my own network (I don't want to broadcast the message to the entire net. I am also connected the internet via cable right now, but they have one ip addres and my internal has another.)

Is this possible?

Start>Run>cmd
to open a Command Prompt

Then type:
net send <computer_name> <message>

An alert should popup on the destination computer.

If not, go to Start>Run>services.msc and check to see that the Messenger service is set to Automatic and has been started on all computers on the network.

Hope that helps :)

For #2, net send * message to all PCs

this will only send to pcs in your LAN

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
