    Hi guys.

I want to recover a few posts from my old blog that are backed up locally. But I just have the entire SQL database in one big text file.

Basically I'm going to have to install Wordpress locally, then install my old blog on to it so I can recover some old posts.

I'm guessing I'll have to install MySQL, stuff needed for PHP to work locally, and Apache. Am I right? How should I go about doing this?

I would have Googled, but I want to see what the geniuses here recommend ;)

Everything you need (well, except WordPress itself) in one nice, easy to install/uninstall package:
    http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

I've used it for local testing before. Works well. :)

Edit: I recommend getting the Lite version since you won't need all the stuff that's included in the regular package.

I actually used that about a month ago, and it works incredibly. The best part I liked was their online documentation, which made it easy for me :)

If you need help, post back. Most likely Kunal, but I could try to help as well ;)

    GL bro :)
