I am building my first computer containing a SATA drive.
When I put XP on it and install the SATA drivers at the prompt, will it automatically recognise the drive and if I put another drive in at a later time will that also be automatically recognised..

Yes press F6 when prompted on install from XPCD and load from floppy disc when prompted, press "S" for other drivers option ..... will recognise SATA on reboot.
Watch out for systems with Via chipsets as some dont recognise SATA drives at all

You don't say what mobo you are using. Just done an instal to SATA on an ABIT AV8 (VIA) 939 mobo. It does not need any drivers instaling. If I install the sata raid drivers, the single sata drive vanishes !!!!

The Mobo ia an Abit AX8 939 PCIE.
Dennis T I will be putting 2 x 120gb drives in, so I will try it without any drivers and hope it works as I don`t want my drives vanishing!!!!!!
