i may be off base here but i had trouble with xp shutting down until i ENABLED in my bios power management which in turn ..turned ON the acpi function which was turned off, then went to device manager did a scan for new hardware changes and this fixed my problem, one way to know if it is on for sure is to go to device manager and under computer it will say acpi machine
I am having the same problems as 'wonder'. I also have an ACPI machine, but withing the power managment setup in BIOS, the only ACPI option is Sleep type.
1 - Power on suspend
2 - Suspend to RAM
??? - I do not understand!
Help, I am having to switch off at main just before computer restarts at present!
This is really a bios problem. Unless the registry has been altered in a weird way, this cannot be created by windows.
It looks like the motherboard is not correctly configured somehow.
I notice at the left, below my name, there is also written "XP Home", while with others it says " XP Professional".
What does this refer to (i have some ideas of course ) and how can i change this? I can change everything, except that.
I am not an XP home user, but Prof.
Sorry for asking here, but there is nowhere else to go..i think?
To change the XP Home under your nick just click on the user cp icon at the top of the page and then click on Edit Profile. You can change it to anything you want it to be.
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
