msn (xp) problem~pic included

hey i have this msn problem, take a look @ the pic. I use to have this error before but it does it now when i don't even have hotmail or outlook or anything open!

exit all outlook stuff and internet explorer and then try and exit it

Do you have Office 2000 installed?

Have you signed into .NET and configured your account

yea? im signed in my hotmail name and i configured it

Then you may have two instances of "messenger running". I think!

i bet you downloaded the .net pack off the windows update didnt you!!??? i did the same thing.. it happened to me.. i removed that piece of sh1t and then everything was fine.

o geez, there was this suspicious program when i presssed contrl alt dlt and it was called ccAP.exe or something and i closed it and then i could exit my msn, but now my outlook Express wont' check my email b/c of server error.

k lol last post, i just figured it out. i searched ccAp or whatever and that file belongs to symantec (norton2003) and i remember that norton said msn and norton weren't compatible or something.....i think.......

MS Messenger is just another thread running on your machine. It has the intelligence to spot another instance of itself running but only after the first error so you should not need to uninstall anything it should auto-correct. Be patient.

This is not a .NET problem whilst I agree that there are some, well a lot, but this particular issue is probably related to a third party programme trying to access info using the MS interface without checking the existing environment. Ok so .NET has the same issues but they are being resolved.

i just said its a norton/msn problem, b/ c i closed a symantec program and it worked.

Its defiantly not related to teh NET frameowrk as I don't have it installed - could relate to a symantec product as I hae several of those installed... It wouldn't bother me, but I use trillian now.

MSN Messenger/Norton Issue

What is happening is your Norton 2003 AV integrated itself in to the messenger service, so it scans incoming messenger files. This is new to NAV 2003 this year. If you would like more info, check out this page and type in this document number. Hope this clears it up.
