not really XP related, but im building a super cheap computer for my friend...and i figured on a 1GHz duron. can anybody reccomend a decent mobo with on board audio to use SDRAM?? im not familiar with older chipsets. which one should i look for? i shouldnt need a fan for the cpu right? btw how does duron 1ghz compare with say a pIII coppermine? ~733MHz?

This board ECS K7S5A is a very good price and you can use SDram or upgrade to DDR Ram, Its on www.Newegg.com for $54 And you always need a CPU Fan.

Yupp the ECS k7S5A supports cpus up to 2100+ I believe and sdram and DDR ram. No overclocking options however the price is good. I just got one a few weeks ago and put an XP1800+ in it and it is stable and a rock. And this board has onboard LAN also, how can ya beat that?
