Since Messaging Service is disabled with SP2 and Windows Messenger removed, is there a way of sending a message to over peers on the same network (apart from re-enabling Messaging Service)?

Not sure what u mean exactly, why don't u install MSN Messenger?

Think he means to send pop up messages that appear on everyone's screen.

ming, not unless you enable the service. The service will work for its intended purpose when used on a network.

once i found a program on download.com that sent popup alerts to other computers and all you needed was the program and other comp's ip addy... forgot what it was called. worth searching though:)
