I have purchased (possible wrongly!) the following wireless broadband kit:

at the moment I have a speedtouch 300 usb modem. Does this kit contain a modem or do I have to buy a new one?

    Thanks in advance!

The speedtouch is USB only (no ethernet port).
The linksys router is ethernet only (no USB port).

You need to get a kit with a router that has a built in modem (probably the cheapest approach)
a new modem with an ethernet output and use it with the kit you already ordered.

In either case when you go to install you will need to contact your ISP and have them change the modem ID number.

You might be able to find a router kit that has a USB input for the modem (as well as the ethernet input) and use your existing modem with it. I'm not sure if this approach will work. I did some checking and could not find a router with a USB conenction to the modem. I think I saw some last year but nothing recently.
