Since I upgraded to SP2 I can no longer install any program that does not use a msi file to access windows installer. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a fix.

Thanks

maybe you have a corrupt installer.

Tell us what version it is, start>run type this in 'MSIEXEC /?' without quotes.

To solve it you should do the next steps :

1 - Set Windows Installer Service to Manual

2 - Restart Your Computer

3 - Execute the command Msiexec / unregister
4 - Retrieve the following files from (SP Uninstall Directory) ...WINNT/$NtServicePackUninstall$ or from any other machine.

msi.dll
msiexec.exe
msihnd.dll
msimsg.dll
msinfo32.dll
msinfo32.exe

5 - Restart your computer in mode command line

6 - Copy the specified files in Step 4 into ...WINNT/System32

7 - Restart your computer in normal Mode and Execute the command Msiexec / regserver

Or windows installer has been disabelled, check in control panel>admin tools>services
scroll down to windows installer and right click it and start

The version that shows is v 3.00.3790.2180.
Installer was set to manual.
I can't find msinfo32.dll anywhere. Not on computer, service pack, or cd.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
