I take it you mean, software that will will rip DVD'd and allow you to copy them to a standard cd-r. If so yes.
If you are able to download the whole burner Pls let me know! LOL

Yes, it is possible to download DVD ripping software, like DVD Copy, whatever. If you can download hardware and make it appear in front of you, all hail to Kazaa! hardware for free! oh I am so getting more ram and hardrive room

hahaha, i save all my dvd's to my Hard drive now, saves using the DVD drive all the time!!

Compress it though. Saving DVDS the regular format , takes a lot of space...

COMPRESS< WOOOOOOOOOT,, compressing takes ages!! and it barely saves any space!!

Nah, I mean not like with Winzip/winrar, with a dvd compression proggie, change its format to avi or something
