How to open a port in windows?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but when using bit torrent I can't download. It says I need to open ports 6681 to etc, how do I do this?

Im using Norton Internet Security 2005 and Norton System Works 2005.

should not be a problem whatsoever - I have done this regularly, but not using Norton cannot tell you how you do it there - have you checked in their help files? I feel almost certain they SHOULD cover it!

norton firewall has a configure button for the firewall. if you go in there and look for andavanced tab you will find some settings for exceptions and you can add the port to all outgoing.

or in your firewall it list the apps that are blocked to the internet. find the bittorrent app and allow.

btw im doing this all by memory. havent used nortons in a long time.
