How do you change icons on desktop?

Discussion in 'Desktop Customisation' started by body electric, Jun 28, 2002.

  1. For example, Microsoft Outlook 2000 and I.E.?
I know I read it in the forums sometime ago, but I didn't pay attention.

    Can you help?

    new york
highlight the icon, hit alternate+enter, hit change icon
  3. That didn't do it. I know it works for short cuts and other icons placed on desktop but, outlook and I.E. are different since they are programs associated with the desktop.

    anyone else?

some programs icons like the ones your trying to change, are easiest to change with third party software, like Microangelo 5.

    good luck :D

Or you can simply make your own shortcut, either to the "standard" shortcut or to the .exe itself. Then YOU will be in control...Muhahahaha.
  6. I think I will try that greendevil!

well, what would happen if I deleted the those icons off my desktop? any problems going to happen if I do that?

What you can and should do is download the TweakUI for XP, which allows you to turn off the desktop icons you want to, without deleting them.

But nothing bad will happen if you just go ahead and delete 'em.
  8. Yeah, I got tweakui I will go and try that!
    thanks again.
