Hard Drive check

    Can anyone steer me in the direction of some good freeware, to check hard drive for errors, both pysical and data.

    Don't you mean 'check disk'? No scandisk with xp.

  7. I would definitely give Exectutive Software's DISKEEPER a try:

    They have their lastet version (7) posted on their web site, just give it a try and if you like it (it is THE standard) then buy it!

    I know I did and my system is in top peak!

    I would use scan disk and check disk (on bootup) with the fix command. chkdsk /f

    Then I would get my hard drive utility. Maxtor has PowerMax, but WD and the rest have their own to download from their web sites. Run the one you want to check for drive failure.
