Everytime I put in a floppy disk, XP tells me that it is unformatted and format now. I know that the disk it good (other puters read from it). The cable is connected correctly on the drive & M/board. I've removed the drive & uninstalled it in device manager but no fix. It's only just started to happen, I feel that the drive itself is ok it's not that old (within 5mths). Any suggestions welcome.
Thanx in advance...cobrin

My guess is that the drive IS bad. Avoid putting any important diskettes in it until you can swap it out with another one. A bad drive will destroy your floppies.

A good way to test the drive is to get a couple of blank floppys and format them then run scandisk on them. Do that 3 or 4 times. If the drive is good you should still have a good usable diskette. If it's bad it will ruin it.

i agree

a client of mine had that problem
we changed the FDD and the FDD cable, its fine now

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
