    Hi all,

At random times when I click on a shortcut on my taskbar to my d: drive, the taskbar disappears and then reappears, thus indicating Explorer is restarting. Does anyone know what causes this and what can be done to fix it? Do I have to change settings for timetokill or something like that?

    Thanks a bunch...

first uncheck the option autmatic restart... the next time the taskbar will dissappear a blue screen with an error will be shown. post the error code here.

    Hi again,

I did what you suggested (turned off automatic restart) and the next time it happened, no blue screen came up. So I decided to check out my event viewer and sure enough there are multiple copies of the same error message, "The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted." I don't know what's causing this. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

No, automatic restart is a complete reboot of the system, not explorer reloading. Anyway, maybe its just a video glitch? Does any icons in the taskbar (down next to the clock) dissapper when it happens? If so, explorer.exe is restarting. If not, its probably just the video system refreshing the taskbar or something.

The icons down by the clock do disappear once explorer reloads and plus I get the error message that explorer.exe is being restarted, so thus it is an explorer.exe problem. I didn't have this with pre-sp1 so I am a bit annoyed at MS's "bugfixes." I am sure there could be worse problems that I could have but still this is pretty annoying.

    Any further insight?
    Thanks.

I switched back to WindowsXP theme (luna or whatever) because I thought maybe the hacked dll and sp1 and my theme (ReflectionsXP) was in some way responsible. So far so good, but I still liked my theme better than this blue crap. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.
