over the past few days, i'm getting Error 10061 Connection Refused when i try to connect to Usenet on my PC (i can connect on my Mac fine). this is really starting to annoy me :( my ISP told me it's a Microshaft problem, and i've scourered the internet and can't find info ANYWHERE about WinSock issues and WinXP. there's got to be some stupid way to unload and reload the WinSock in XP. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application (Forte Agent) and i'm still getting the same error. i've tried other NNTP clients, and am still getting the same error. any ideas?

Do a forum search on winsock. Someone posted a program that lets oyu rebuild winsock recently. If search doesn't turn it check through the posts under network for the last few days. I just saw it this week..

It does not sound like a software issue. Error 10061 - Connection Refused By Server denotes the server is not accepting connections (may be full, down or disabled)

Can you connect to a public usenet server such as news.clara.net?
