if i get a p4 with the 533mhz bus, and use one of the new dual channel motherboards (intel's granite baychipset) with my existing pc2100(266x2?) will that equal the bandwidth of the 533mhz?
since the 533 is technically 266x2, and the dual channel will make the ram 266x2, both will have the same bandwidth true? if i'm missing something, please correct me.
right now i have the palomino, at 283mhz, along with the ram at 283mhz , but if i switch to intel and use a 533mhz processor, will that make the memory an equizilent of 533(266x2)?

Yes that is right, your memory will run at 533mhz with the dual channel. Interestingly enough intel are releasing a p4 with an 800mhz bus to keep up with the DDR400 specs, this article at the inquirer http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=6285
