Hi Guys,

I read somewhere that I can convert my XP that is sitting in a Fat32 Partition to NTFS, without having to start all over and reinstall the OS, using the command prompt. Can anyone tell me what that command would be? I read it in one of my XP magazines.

Thanks in advance.

To convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt
Open Command Prompt.
In the command prompt window, type
convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, typing convert D: /fs:ntfs would format drive D: with the ntfs format.

Notes

To open command prompt, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
You can convert FAT or FAT32 volumes to NTFS with this command.

Wow, thanks for the quick resonse!!!
I posted about thirty seconds ago, honest!!!

Very important in case you get error messages stating:
Convert cannot gain exclusive access to the drive letter drive, so it cannot convert it now. Would you like to schedule it to be converted the next time the system restarts? <Y/N>

Or this:
Convert cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Convert may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? <Y/N>
