connect speed

I have a u.s robotics 56k fax int modem, I live in a rural area with rural ph lines I have 2 nos. I connect with they both connect at 31.2 –is there anything I can do to improve my connect speed?

yeah move to the city and get 1mb broadband.

Sorry, seriously i'd love to live in the country.

Do you have the latest drivers? If you think it's line dependant (since you mention the 'rural phone lines') i don't think there's a lot you can do.

I've used rural lines before, they're just plain nasty, i don't really think there's anything you can do as its the line thats keeping the speed low and not windows/drivers/connection software.
