i'm swapping a cd-burner from a 98 comp to an xp comp. im fine with installing it, but do i have to do anything before i take it out of the other comp, like uninstall anything - or do i just rip it out of the box and let windows do the rest?!?

    thanks

no.. go to the device manager and uninstall the drive then shut off your computer and take it out

You should be fine just turning off 98 comp then removing drive...i have never removed drivers for a cdrom, dvdrom, cdburner

Remove all CD Burning Software from 98 Box. Then remove Drive from Device Manager, remove Drive. Install in XP Box, Boot up and let XP install it's own drivers for the Drive. Then install CD Burning Proggy on XP, if it's compatible with XP. Otherwise get newest version and/or XP version of Proggy.
