First of all welcome to the Icons, Screensavers, & Graphics Forum!

Many questions that people ask have already been asked and answered.

Below are answers to some common questions.

Q.) How do I customize my icons?

A.) Mavis has written two tutorials on how to customize WinXP icons. His tutorials:

a.) Icon Basics - How to customize icons

b.) How to replace WinXP's drive icons (Floppy, CD, HardDrive) (

Q.) How do I increase my icon size?

    A.) Follow these steps:

Step 1. I recommend increasing your your vertical and horizontal icon spacing (Display Properties->Appearance->Advanced->Item) if you are increasing your icon size, otherwise, your icons will overlap.

Step 2. Start Menu->Run->"regedit"(to open registry)->HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Control Panel\ Desktop\ Windowmetrics. Look for the Shell Icon Size Key. It will be set to match your current icon size. Right click on the key and Modify. Change the Value Data to X(X is the icons size you want). Hit OK. Exit regedit, log out of WinXP, log back in.

However, the change to a higher icon size is universal, meaning that ALL icons on your machine will be larger.. including start menu... which will cause startmenu icons to look crappy. So I suggest that you have 64x64, or 96x96...

Q.) Where can I find some cool icons?

Q.) How do I convert Mac icons to Windows XP?

A.) Mavis has written another tutorial, here
B.) I have written another tutorial, here, just go to the Tutorials section. Most will prefer this way because it is easier.

If your questions wasnt answered here, search! Trust me, most of the time you WILL find an answer. Just be sure to search with words with more than 2 letters, as the search engine does not allow words with 2 letters or less.

    Happy Customizing ;) ,

What are those stat programs that I see on peoples desktops?
Those little programs will give you system stats, and other goodies such as Winamp controls, clocks, POP3 email notification etc.

    Coolmon - http://coolmon.arsware.org/
    Sysmetrix - http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/
    Statbar - http://www.statbar.nl/
    Samurize

How to I get those floating toolbars?
Those are docks, and there are several about:
    yzdock
    ObjectDock
    MobyDock

Where do I get icons for docks?
Most docks use .PNG files for icons, so you can easily make them youself, or you can download them from the following sites:

Samurize is another app for system stats.

As for the docks, there's ObjectDock and MobyDock as well.

  18. Thanks Net Ryder - I've edited those into my post.
