My cd burner will not allow me to burn cd's. I've attached a log from my nero explaining the errors(although its all greek to me). I consider myself pretty tech savvy, but this is one i cant solve. If anybody could look at this log and see if they could help me, i would greatly appreciate it..........

Don't know much about it but the log near the bottom says the disk is 'illegal'. Whatever that means.

it says 2 of your 3 drives are not in DMA mode, that should help a lot.

How is this posible that disk is not in DMA, try to change cd rom and disk or all of them but you must have DMA on!!!

i turned dma back on for my burner, still cant even get it to start burning. i dont know its still under warranty, so i can get the burner replaced, i just hate to send my tower away for 2 weeks, especially if it turns out to be a software issue.

Are you trying to copy a CD that is copy protected? Some burners will not support this because of "legal" issues. The copy protection schemes use stuff like overright that the bruners don't all support. Your post looks like you're trying to copy a music CD. The newer music CD's do not allow copying. If you are using the latest MS multimedia stuff then it also has protections built in to prevent you from burning CD's.

Is the CD you are trying to burn a good CD? i.e. Completely blank, proper media type. GOOD NAME BRAND CD!!!!!!!!!! I had a plextor that would not write the generic and cheapie CDs. My present drive does not like Fuji.

Are you trying to burn CDR onto a CD/RW blank or vice versa?

Have you tried to burn just a data CD? Backup my documents or something to test the burner.

ive tried data cd's as well, they wont burn either( ive tried slowing my burner down to 2x as well), the last stack of memorex' s all did good for me, since then ive used optimum's and sony cd-r's ( and havent got a single one to burn since), i tried sony because i figured they are a good brand of cd's, but i think i may go buy a cpl memorexes tomorrow and try that. Thanx for all the help, guys

Get a copy of bao & see if that will burn it. Nero might be corrupt.

I'd still give bao (burnatonce) or another burning program a go. There is no reason why other disks won't work.

Memorex is a good cd brand, I like using them. There also a good price.

bao went down the other day. Lost all forum posts which was bad because there were a lot of add ons/fixes/ideas for it that were lost also. It's back up now though. Let us know what happens when you try other disks.
