Just received a pop up from messenger service stating that I have won a prize worth £1000,my number was chosen by the draw manager in the hourly draw.To claim the prize I have to ring a number that costs £1.50 a minute(Con?or what).Observations please.

Use a firewall or disable the Messenger service. Those popups can get very annoying. :D

Thanks for the replies people,I have a firewall, obviously not doing its job or I haven't configured it properly(NIS).I know it has been posted before but can you point me in the right direction to disable.By the way i did not ring up the number,I don't want to push my luck as I had the winner of todays Derby at Epsom.

If you want to disable these messages : Program Files : The folder " Messenger " rename it to " MessengerOFF " that should do the trick.

go to start > run and type in ' services.msc' a list of the services in windows will come up. scroll down to 'messenger' and double click it. in the window that comes up, change the setting to 'disabled' and click apply.

the messenger service and windows messenger are two different things.
