Access shortcut??

At my place of employment, we have a helpdesk database on one of our network servers. When I try to place a shortcut on my desktop pointing to the database and then open it a message opens up and says the database is "read only." I have admin rights so I remove the "read only" and add can add to the database and save my additions. Now my question is, if I reboot my changes are lost. What can I do to make a shortcut to this database that is on the network server on my desktop and be able to make changes? Also, when someone updates the database it automatically updates my shortcut?

A shortcut is a shortcut. As long as the database is the same it IS updated automatically.

No offence, but are you using a shortcut and not a copy of the database?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
