Even so, that's completely normal. 256 MB cards got released not too long ago and yet we don't fully utilize the entire memory. Doom 3 may be the only exception to this, but there's hardly a difference in graphics quality, though. Let alone a 512 MB card would perform better. Maybe with faster DDR3 memory. I suppose the 'coolness' factor plays a role here, so that people can show off how much memory they have on their card.
By the way, 512 MB or even 1 GB on DDR5 would be ultra fast. xD Indeed cool stuff, yeah, but that's unlikely to appear in the near future.
i think that if a current games needs more than 256mb memory its not been designed properly. as u say the doom 3 ultra high settings dont look that much better than the next ones down.
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
