?? command to Redraw Entire Desktop in XP ??

Thanks roirraW "edor" ehT That worked, good enough anyway. Basically it forced the redraw/reset and looks like it recovered the missing items. I was so frustrated with this thing that I needed someone to think "outside the box" that I was stuck in. Appreciate all of your help. -LP

    Can't reformat

I hate those stupid restore discs. Most of the time there are multiple partitions on computers that use them. (usually a C partition and sometimes a hidden X partition) The Hidden partition containes the files that your restore disc needs to do its thing. In your case, if you choose to go...

    Can't reformat

You have to go past the recovery part, DELETE the Partition, then Create the same partition. (continue and install a fresh copy of windows, then Delete partition, then create partition) That should fix you up....and you CAN do it with your slipstreamed copy of windows. I do it all the time...

    Windows Media Player Problem

I have had this problem also, unfortunately I do not know the cause, although I very much doubt it is a lack of power on your part. I can usually solve this problem by using a different mediaplayer. 1. try updating your codecs, your directshow filter. 2. try using alternate players...

    Burning a DVD to disc?

It is actually quite good, considering it only does a one-pass conversion, Provided that your original (source) is of good quality. I am usually pretty picky about the end quality of my movies, and I usually use a 2-pass encode of tmpgenc with High motion precision.... this usually takes 6+...

    Burning a DVD to disc?

DVDSanta will allow you to just drag and drop all of your files (avi, mpeg, whatever) into it's interface, fill in a few blanks (what format??--ntsc or PAL, where you want the final files stored, etc) and hit CREATE DVD. It will link all of your movies together into one long movie with...

    [Movie Review] Sin City

The visuals are very slick. Just a warning though.....the ENTIRE movie is full of UBER Violence (although it is somewhat mitigated by the fact that the film is in black and white with just a splash of color here and there). If you don't particularly care for violence then be forewarned...
