Zone Alarm Pro Help!!!!

hey, why cant i goto internet explorer or nothing, when zone alarm pro is on???

i gave full access for internet explorer, and it still doesn't work!!!

is there another setting to make it WORK...also netscape, or nothing else with the internet can work

Sounds like its blocking port 80... can you ping any sites (this will confirm it, start - run-cmd-ping www.google.com- should get four replys if you dont then it aint allowing traffic to get through) Can you get traffic on other ports? (e-mail, ftp?)

Try removing any apps showing in the Programs Setting in Zonealarm, then reboot. Do you have zonealarm set to load on boot? When Windows and ZA loads, check for any programs that ask for permission to connect to the net. Set the proper ones to access the net. Also check in Security Settings/ Advanced/Local Zone Contents and make sure your adapter is present if you're on broadband. I'm not sure if anything is needed here if a user is on dialup.

I have'nt used ZA with Xp since Whistler, I see to be getting nostalgic... But if I remember you have to allow certain services to get out before it will allow IE to connect... It's the same with Win2k...

Is this still the case?!?

another stupid question...

is ZoneAlarm in your taskbar? ZoneAlarm should work fine with XP (it is on all of my machines), however, if ZoneAlarm is not set to load at bootup BUT the truevector service still is (which you would have to tell to not start up seperately, then yes, NOTHING will get out. Make sure that the true vector service is not loading at start up if zonealarm isn't, otherwise, make sure they are both starting at startup together. Also make sure you cleared IE for the internet zone, not just the local zone...

Drop Zone Alarm and use the Tiny personal firewall at www.tinysoftware.com a much better firewall then Zone alarm.
