Have just done the XP1 upgrade on my XP Pro and now have the error report NT Kernel System has changed error c:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

Its only displayed at boot up and the PC seems to be running OK, what does it mean and can it be cured ?

Thanks

If you have been messing around changing the boot screen put the original back. That should get rid of the error message.

Have not touched

Not sure what XPBoot is but not convinced I have it and have not touched anything on the boot screen or welcome screen. Everything is the same except the installation of XP SP1.

Any other ideas ?

with SP1, you can not mess with your boot screens. after you have SP1 installed you can not put in a boot screen or replace the ntoskrnl.exe the system will not boot. you can find the default ntoskrnl.exe on themexp.org replace it and you will be fine

Try checking your boot.ini for anything relating to it. Right click my computer\properties\advanced\startup & recovery\settings\edit. If you are not sure copy & paste it here.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
