I have been running Windows XP Professional for 2 months now, when I boot up the system it hangs on the blue XP windows that says its starting the system and I must do a cntl+alt+del just to
get it to do anything; I am not prompted to do it but
thats the only thing that seems to work.
I am "all of a sudden" receiving a prompt telling
me "Windows created a temporary paging file on your
computer because of a problem that occurred with your
paging file configuration when you started your computer.
The total paging file size for all disk drives may be
somewhat larger than the size you specified".
I had the option for letting window handle that
automatically set but when I look at the virtual memory
settings, it shows that 0 MB are allocated to that file.
I went in and changed the settings to the custom size of
2MB minimum and 382MB as my max as recommended, applied
the changes and rebooted but still get the same
error/prompt each time I reboot.
When I shut down XP, I get a blue technical screen
telling me a problem was detected and windows shut down
to prevent any further damage. It lists
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE as the problem and tells me to
uninstall any new software and/or remove any new hardware
I have recently installed. I have not installed any new
software/hardware since I built the system a couple
months ago. HELP !!!
I am also running Norton SystemsWorks 2002 and have run
XP through ALL the tests to see if it can find anything
wrong but come up with nothing.
I have also attempted to RESTORE from a previous restore
point and it seems to work until the RESTORE program
shuts windows down to begin the actual restore then the
blue screen with the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE stops the
restore process. When I reboot, I am then told the
restore did not work.
