What is the difference between XP and XP Pro ?

I am currently a W98SE user but our new PC has been offered to us with the option of having either installed.

Would it effect anything new we might buy

XP Home has a little less features than XP Pro, but Home has enough features for a "normal" pc user. Pro has extra features which can be very handy for large companies. Normal pc user doesn't need the extra's from Pro.

The extra feature are mainly to do with additional security and network administration

so unless your a big company XPHome will do just fine, as the others have said the only difference is with security and networking.. which is NOT needed for the average user.

The missing security options are nothing to panic about either b.t.w.
