When I shutdown XP it gives me a message to "Please close all Microsoft Applications"..........How do I get rid of this? (I have to manually shut down all MS applications in order for shut down to continue)

Everything else shuts down nicely???

Open Regedit then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Create a new chain(Reg_SZ) named AutoEndTasks, give it the value 1.
Close Regedit and reboot windows.

It'll stop to ask you to close all program when you shutdown, it'll do it automatically.

You may also like to search your registry for the following keys: HungAppTimeout & WaitToKillAppTimeout and adjust them as necessary to help speed up the shutdown process some.

Whilst on the topic I have also found that disabling some services such as the "NVIDIA Driver Helper Service" and killing off some other files related to the Creative SB Live drivers (e.g. "devldr32.exe") also assists in getting your machine to shutdown properly first time everytime!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
