xp serial and problems.

hey,
how do i get my serial for xp off my comp, or is that possible? or is the stuff under my computer>properties>registered to: the serial?

also...my comp wont shut down. it goes to the please wait while windows shuts down screen and never shuts down or it takes like 10 mins to shutdown, but most of the time it doesnt shutdown...

is there a way to fix that?

The serial should be on your CD case

i know the serial should be on the case, but i took it off and stuck it on a regular cd case and it fell off and i cant find it.
