xp safe mode problem

could somebody explain me why I cant go in safe mode after restarting or starting

most computer you hit F8 right after the boot screen, some others use different keys,

use boot initiation from msconfig;

hit windows key+r, type msconfig, enter

there, go to boot ini, safe boot

make sure you reverse the process when you'r e done with safe mode
